Eigenprint Path: what a number from your birth date says about a theme in your life

What does Eigenprint Path measure?

Path is the lens I use for the theme that keeps coming back in your life. Some people change jobs, courses or businesses and meet the same problem each time, such as ending up with everyone else’s work. Skill and personality do not always explain why it keeps happening.

I’m Robert Russell, a career and identity coach, and I run QuantumThrive Hub in South Africa. I build an artefact by hand for each client who is deciding about work, a business or studies. The artefact rests on four lenses of you. Together the four lenses are your Eigenprint, the full picture of you that I build. Eigenprint Path is one of the four. The focused build uses three of them: Type, Path and Sky.

I work out your Path from your birth date. Your date gives a number, and the number has a place in a fixed count. I read that place as a theme that tends to come back through your life, such as being the person who organises others. You get a question to ask yourself with the theme, such as “Do I keep ending up as the person everyone leans on?” You then test that question against what you have done, and keep the theme only if it holds up.

What Path rests on, and where it stops

Path comes from an old way of counting and using symbols, and I do not claim that science has tested it. Nobody has proved that your birth date says anything about what you will do, and I do not say it does. You will not learn your future from Path.

What Path does offer is a name for a pattern. Many people can feel the same problem coming back and have no word for it.

So I treat your Path as a guess for you to test. The guess is that people with your Path tend to find the same theme in their lives. You check the guess against your own history. If you can find the theme in your life, you trust Path as one lens in your Eigenprint. If you cannot find it even once, you set Path aside.

An example: a school leaver choosing a degree

Take a school leaver who has three weeks to choose a degree. Parents, teachers and friends keep asking what they want to study, and they do not know yet.

Suppose their Path points to the theme of being the person who organises others. That lets them ask a sharper question than “What do I want to study?” They can ask when someone last turned to them to sort out a plan, and what they were doing at that moment.

Then they test that question against their own life. They list three times in the last two years when other people leaned on them: a group project, a sports team, a family event. For each one, they note whether they enjoyed it or resented it. If they enjoyed all three, they have a reason to trust their Path. They can count it as one reason when comparing degrees that put them in charge of people, such as business management or education. If they enjoyed some and resented others, they set Path aside and decide using the other lenses.

A parent can run the same test on themselves, to see whether they and their child feel the same about being leaned on. The parent lists three times in the last few years when others leaned on them. For each one, they note whether they enjoyed it or resented it. Then they compare that list with their child’s list. Where the lists match, they have a calm place to start talking. Where the lists differ, they have learned how their child feels about being the one others lean on.

Where Path sits in your Eigenprint

An Eigenprint is made of four lenses. Here is each lens and what it describes.

  • Eigenprint Type is a description of how you work. Type comes from a questionnaire I wrote, based on the work of Carl Jung, a Swiss psychologist who wrote about personality types. With Type, you see how you take in information, decide and handle pressure.
  • Eigenprint Path is the subject of this post. With Path, you find a theme that keeps coming back in your life.
  • Eigenprint Sky is a position in a twelve-part cycle, worked out from your birth date. With Sky, you see what tends to attract you and get you moving.
  • Eigenprint Name is where your first name and surname come from, looked up in dictionaries and name histories that you can check yourself. Name is part of the comprehensive build only, so you get Type, Path and Sky in the focused build.

Do not rely on one lens. You can rely less on a pattern that one lens shows than on one that three lenses show. When several lenses agree, you have the strongest sign that a pattern is real.

How you start

Your Eigenprint Type result is free. You create an account, answer a short questionnaire in one go and see your result before you pay anything. Once you have your result, you can book a paid session with me. In that session, before you decide on a build, we go through your Path and Sky.

Questions people ask

Does Eigenprint Path predict your future?

No, and I make no claim about your future. Path describes a theme, and you decide whether the description fits your life.

Do you have to believe in Path for it to work?

You do not. You test whether the question Path raises is a good one for you. If the question shows you a pattern in your own life, Path has done its job, whether or not you accept its basis.

Do two people with the same Path lens get the same Eigenprint?

No. Path is one of four lenses, and the others draw on your answers, your birth date and your name. Two people with the same Path lens usually end up with different Eigenprints.

If you run your own business

Suppose your Path points to being the person who organises others. You can look back at the last three businesses, jobs or roles you left, and check whether you were that person each time.

If you are choosing your own degree

Write down the three times in the last two years when other people leaned on you, and note whether you enjoyed each one. You own the list, and you can check it against the theme your Path names.

What Path leaves open

Path is one lens. To decide about work, a business or studies, you also need to know how you work day to day. You need to know what tends to attract you and where your name comes from. Then you need a next step.

The focused build combines Type, Path and Sky and scores where you stand now on five dimensions, and the more important dimensions count for more. The comprehensive build adds Eigenprint Name and the timing work, which puts dates on your roadmap, the steps you will take.

Your artefact holds that roadmap. In the comprehensive build, the timing work uses your birth date to place each step on a calendar. You then read “March” on your roadmap where it would otherwise say “in three months”. You should not read the dates as a prediction. They give your steps a sensible order.

A coaching session is the smallest paid option. You and I go through one of your lenses together, such as your Path, online on a video call.
